A 48 year old executive
underwent cataract surgery (Phacoemulsification with foldable IOL)
in the left eye. The surgery and postoperative period was uneventful.
Patient regained 6/6 vision and was comfortably carrying on his
extensive reading and computer work. About 6 months later he started
having problem in reading. His vision became hazy and blurred. On check
up his vision had come down to 6/18 and there was an opacification of
the posterior capsule of the lens called Aftercataract.
He was explained that this was a normal change expected after cataract
surgery and it needed a very small OPD procedure to correct it. A YAG
laser Capsulotomy was done to remove the central part of the
posterior capsule and patient immediately regained 6/6 vision.
